Who We Are & What We Do
Community Choice Financial is a multi-faceted financial services lender that partners with a family of brands to further reach under-served communities. The assortment of brands within our network offers personal lending options and ancillary services across 1,500+ physical stores nationwide and online platforms.
Our History
Humble Beginnings (1986–2005)
Our story started with a single check-cashing store in Ohio. Over the next two decades, we expanded across multiple states, introduced new lending products, and laid the groundwork for what would become a national network of trusted financial service brands.
Growth Fueled by Investment (2006–2010)
With private equity backing, we accelerated our retail expansion and product offerings. This phase of growth helped us build a scalable infrastructure and positioned us to unify multiple brands under one vision.
Forming Community Choice Financial (2011–2015)
We brought together CheckSmart, California Check Cashing Stores, and Cash Central under the Community Choice Financial name. This consolidation strengthened our coast-to-coast presence and launched our omnichannel strategy with licensed online lending.
Strategic Moves & Market Expansion (2016–2020)
From asset swaps that optimized our footprint to refinanced growth, we expanded our reach and improved operational efficiency. By 2020, we were operating hundreds of locations nationwide with a robust online presence.
Transformational Acquisitions (2021–2023)
We welcomed Check Into Cash, Speedy Cash, Rapid Cash, and Avío Credit into our family of brands—dramatically expanding our storefront and digital footprint. These acquisitions solidified our position as one of the largest consumer specialty lenders in the country.
Building a Modern Lending Leader (2023–Present)
With the addition of TitleMax and national sponsorships like NASCAR, we've grown into a 1,500+ location powerhouse. Our CCF Cares program and digital-first approach continue to define our mission: accessible, responsible lending for millions of Americans.
